About
Firhouse Educate Together Secondary School is a developing, co‑educational secondary school that opened its doors in 2018. It operates as a restorative, equality‑based and values‑based community, placing a strong emphasis on building positive relationships, resolving conflict constructively and fostering a sense of belonging for every student. The school’s educational philosophy is centred on student voice, social justice, democracy and sustainability, and it seeks to create a collaborative learning environment where pupils are encouraged to engage meaningfully with their peers, teachers and the wider community. The curriculum is delivered through a cross‑curricular and team‑teaching approach wherever possible, supported by a robust virtual learning environment that stores and distributes digital learning materials. In the Junior Cycle, the school does not use traditional textbooks, instead creating its own digital content and resources to promote active, inquiry‑based learning. A wide range of extra‑curricular activities, practical subjects and sustainability initiatives complement the academic programme, providing students with opportunities to develop creativity, curiosity and collaboration beyond the classroom.
History
