Freemount Mixed National School is a Roman Catholic co‑educational primary school situated in Freemount, Charleville, Co. Cork. The school caters for approximately 96 pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class and is staffed by a team of seven teachers, including four mainstream class teachers, a learning‑support teacher and a shared resource teacher, supported by two school‑named assistants, a secretary and a cleaner. The school’s ethos is centred on creating a positive, caring and stimulating environment that nurtures each child’s personal, social, intellectual, moral and spiritual development, encouraging confidence, self‑esteem and responsible citizenship. The curriculum is complemented by a broad range of extra‑curricular activities such as GAA, swimming, drama, dance, music and various sport programmes, reflecting the school’s commitment to holistic education. Freemount is a recognised health‑promoting school and actively participates in the Green Schools programme, having earned its third flag for water‑conservation and additional flags for litter, waste and energy. It also engages in Duhallow Rural School competitions and the Discovery Primary Science and Maths programme, supporting a well‑rounded academic experience for its pupils.
