About
Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh is a fully Irish‑medium primary school situated on Bóthar Vevay in Bré, County Cill Mhaontáin. The school places the Irish language at the heart of its curriculum, fostering a bilingual environment where pupils develop fluency alongside a strong cultural identity. Learning is underpinned by modern pedagogical approaches, including the use of tablets and innovative teaching methods that promote active, student‑centred enquiry. A holistic ethos guides the school, encouraging progress not only in academic subjects such as mathematics, science and the humanities, but also in sport, music, and the arts, thereby supporting the overall well‑being and personal growth of each child. The school’s facilities reflect its commitment to contemporary education. A state‑of‑the‑art building, completed in 2011 after a major renovation of the original structure, provides spacious classrooms, specialist areas for technology and creative subjects, and ample outdoor space for physical activity. The environment is designed to be welcoming and inclusive, with a strong emphasis on mutual respect and community spirit, creating a supportive setting for pupils to thrive academically and socially.
History
Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh was established in 1995 as an all‑Irish primary school. In 2011 the school moved into a newly constructed building, with the older section of the premises renovated at the same time, enhancing its capacity and modernising its facilities.
