History
The original schoolhouse in Glounthaune village, now a community centre, was converted from a decommissioned parish church and opened as a school in 1901, initially known as New Glanmire National School with two teachers. In 1981, responding to increasing enrolments, the school relocated to its present site and became Glounthaune Mixed National School, employing seven teachers at the time. Since then the school has expanded steadily and now accommodates over 400 pupils and around 30 staff members, operating under the name Scoil Náisiúnta an Chroí Naofa.
