Gortjordan National School is a small, rural primary school serving the communities of Kilmaine, Shrule, Glencorrib and Cross in County Mayo. The school occupies a bright, modern building with three well‑equipped classrooms, a dedicated library and a spacious hall. Its outdoor learning environment is a particular strength, featuring a recently refurbished playground, a basketball court, a pitch, a planting area and a thriving school garden where pupils can engage in horticultural activities and explore the natural surroundings. The curriculum is enriched by a wide range of extra‑curricular provisions. Pupils benefit from free hot school meals, daily music sessions with ukulele instruction, and a robust sports programme that includes swimming, Gaelic football, rounders, tag rugby and regular fitness activities such as yoga and mindfulness.
