About

Holy Family Primary School is a vertical, co‑educational primary school in Mullingar, County Westmeath, offering 16 mainstream classes together with two dedicated ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) classes. The school’s ethos is rooted in Catholic values and a commitment to inclusivity, providing a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to dream, believe, flourish and achieve their individual potential. The curriculum is broad and balanced, integrating core academic subjects with a rich programme of artistic, musical and sporting activities. State‑of‑the‑art high‑speed broadband, delivered through the Department of Education’s School Broadband Programme and funded by the EU’s Next Generation initiative, supports modern teaching methods and enhances digital literacy. Strong partnerships between home, school and the wider community underpin the school’s approach, fostering collaborative learning and responsible global citizenship.

History

The original Curraghmore school was built in 1884 and later closed, but its Catholic ethos and long tradition of delivering excellent education form the foundation of the present school. Holy Family Primary School was officially opened and blessed on 22 June 2022. It has been selected for a Next Generation EU‑funded project, providing high‑speed broadband connectivity as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
