About
Howth Road Mixed National School is a small, four‑teacher primary school operating under the patronage of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. It provides co‑educational, multi‑grade education for children from Junior Infants through to Sixth Class, embracing a whole‑child philosophy that seeks to nurture intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual, moral and cultural development. The school’s curriculum follows the redeveloped Primary Curriculum, with staff receiving in‑service training to deliver the full suite of subjects, ensuring a coherent and inclusive learning experience for all pupils, including those with special needs. Beyond the classroom, the school offers a vibrant after‑school programme that includes sports, art and crafts, LEGO, pilates, dance and drama, sewing and chess, encouraging pupils to explore interests and develop confidence in a supportive environment. The school also participates in the Green Schools Programme, promoting environmental awareness and responsibility among students. Strong partnership with parents and guardians is central to the school’s ethos, recognising families as primary educators and fostering collaborative relationships to support each child’s growth.
