About
Kildare Town Educate Together National School is a state‑funded primary school that embraces the inclusive, intercultural ethos of the Educate Together patronage. The school provides a democratic, child‑centred learning environment where children are encouraged to “Learn Together to Live Together”. Uniforms are not required and staff are addressed by their first names, fostering a relaxed and respectful atmosphere. The curriculum follows the Irish National Curriculum while integrating the Educate Together Ethical Education Curriculum, which promotes justice, equality, human rights and environmental stewardship. The campus, situated on the historic Magee Barracks site, offers a range of modern facilities. A well‑stocked library, a purpose‑built Geodome, and high‑speed broadband (supported by NextGenerationEU funding) give pupils access to contemporary ICT resources, including iPads. Outdoor amenities include play areas, basketball courts and a football pitch, while the Nurture Room supports younger learners. After‑school programmes span coding, drama, sport, chess and swimming lessons for 1st‑4th classes, providing a vibrant, holistic educational experience.
History
The school opened in August 2012 in the former Kildare Vocational School with 21 pupils. In 2015 it relocated to a new building on the historic Magee Barracks site on Melitta Road. The school now serves approximately 430 children across two special classes and sixteen mainstream classes.
