About
Kill National School is a co‑educational Catholic National School situated in the heart of the rural village of Kill, County Waterford. With a nine‑member teaching team, the school provides a holistic education that aims to nurture each child in a caring, happy and supportive environment. The curriculum is delivered across six main classrooms, complemented by three additional learning‑support/resource rooms, a staff room and an office, ensuring ample space for both whole‑class instruction and personalised learning. The school benefits from strong links to the local community, making use of the nearby community centre and GAA pitch for sports, concerts and extra‑curricular activities. Uniforms are simple and practical, featuring a bottle‑green tracksuit with a red polo or a traditional grey and green ensemble, reinforcing a sense of belonging. Structured school hours, a healthy lunch policy and clear parking guidelines further contribute to a well‑ordered, nurturing atmosphere that supports academic and personal development.
History
A National School has served the village of Kill since 1833, originally located in the present cemetery adjoining the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The current school building was completed in 1935 and has remained on the same site ever since. Over nearly two centuries the school has maintained a constant presence while adapting to significant societal and educational changes, earning a strong reputation as an integral part of the local community.
