About
Loreto College Crumlin is an all‑girls Catholic secondary school situated in the heart of Dublin 12, welcoming pupils of all faiths and none. The college serves approximately 450 young women from Crumlin, Drimnagh, Rialto, Dolphin’s Barn and beyond, representing around 40 different nationalities. Its educational ethos combines rigorous academic programmes—including the Junior Certificate School Programme, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate Vocational and Leaving Certificate Applied—with a strong emphasis on personal development, creativity and community engagement. The school’s curriculum is underpinned by the Mary Ward values of freedom, truth, justice, sincerity and joy, fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where each student can achieve her full intellectual, emotional and spiritual potential. State‑of‑the‑art facilities support a broad range of extracurricular activities, from arts and sport to enterprise and leadership initiatives, and the college is well‑connected by Dublin Bus routes and a short walk to the LUAS Red Line. Participation in the Trinity College Access Programme further enhances pathways to higher education and university.
History
Loreto College Crumlin was founded in 1930 by a group of pioneering Loreto Sisters, who began the school with a modest £5 investment to provide quality Catholic education for local girls in Crumlin, Drimnagh, Rialto and Dolphin’s Barn. Over the decades the college has grown to serve around 450 students from nearly 40 countries. In 2020 the school celebrated its 90‑year anniversary with a Mass and a commemorative celebration of its Mary Ward values. Loreto College Crumlin forms part of a wider Loreto network comprising 17 voluntary secondary schools, 5 community schools and 9 primary schools across Ireland.
