About
Lucan East Educate Together National School is a member of the national Educate Together network, operating under the core principles of being child‑centred, democratically run and equality‑based. The school provides a caring and inclusive environment where every pupil is welcomed and encouraged to develop socially, morally, physically and cognitively. A strong partnership between parents and staff underpins the educational process, ensuring open communication and shared responsibility for the wellbeing and progress of each child. The school occupies a modern, purpose‑built facility on Thomas Omer Way, opened in April 2025, which accommodates over 400 pupils, including two dedicated classes for children with autism. A wide range of extracurricular activities enrich the curriculum, from tennis and rugby sessions to creative projects such as the Writer’s Wonderland display and school‑wide readathons. These programmes support the development of skills, attitudes and values that promote happiness, fulfilment and lifelong learning, while the safe, well‑maintained premises provide the ideal setting for both academic and personal growth.
History
Lucan East ETNS opened on 1 September 2008 as the fifth Educate Together school in Lucan, initially housing 88 pupils, seven teachers, one SNA and a part‑time secretary in a purpose‑built building. Rapid growth saw enrolments rise to 160 in the second year, 227 in the third and 295 in the fourth, prompting the construction of an extension between March 2010 and August 2011. In December 2017 a new principal was appointed, and the school now serves over 400 pupils, including two autism classes, with a staff of 33 teachers, 13 SNAs, two full‑time cleaners, a full‑time secretary and a part‑time caretaker. In April 2025 the Department of Education relocated the school to a brand‑new building on Thomas Omer Way, positioning it for a bright future serving the local community.
