About
Malahide / Portmarnock Educate Together National School is an equality‑based, child‑centred primary school that welcomes boys and girls of all backgrounds. As an Educate Together patronage school it is democratically run and co‑educational, delivering the national Primary School Curriculum alongside the Learn Together Programme. The curriculum is delivered through an integrated approach that blends literacy (English and Irish), numeracy, arts (art, music, drama), social, environmental and scientific education, physical education and social, personal and health education, including the Stay Safe programme. The school is recognised for its commitment to sustainability and digital innovation, holding the Green School, Amber Flag, Active School and Digital School of Distinction awards. Initiatives such as the Daily Mile, Discover Science & Maths, and a student‑led robotics project illustrate a focus on health, STEM and creative problem‑solving. Modern facilities support these programmes, providing well‑equipped classrooms, digital resources and spaces for extracurricular activities, ensuring a stimulating and challenging learning environment for pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.
History
The school was announced on 12 March 2014 as one of three new primary schools responding to patronage divestment surveys. Initially based in Holywell ETNS, enrolments opened on 5 April 2014 and the school officially opened its doors on 29 August 2014 with nine pupils. Since then the school has expanded each year, reaching a ten‑class structure with twenty‑three staff members and offering full provision from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.
