About

Maynooth Educate Together National School is a co‑educational primary school that provides an inclusive, learner‑centred environment for around 420 pupils and a dedicated staff team. The school follows the Irish Primary School Curriculum alongside the Educate Together “Learn Together” ethical education programme, which replaces traditional religious instruction and encourages children to explore diverse worldviews, develop critical thinking, and engage in respectful debate. The ethos promotes equality of access and esteem for all children, irrespective of social, cultural or religious background, and operates as a participatory democracy with strong partnerships between parents, pupils and staff. The school’s purpose‑built premises, officially opened in June 2023, feature modern classrooms, a multi‑sensory room for special‑needs support, a spacious hall/open‑space area, and high‑speed broadband supplied under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. A broad range of extracurricular activities enriches the pupil experience, including STEM clubs, a school choir, active‑school sport programmes, and Green Schools initiatives. The school also offers after‑school clubs and a vibrant community life, reflected in its participation in local cultural events and sporting successes.

History

In January 2008 a group of local parents lobbied the Educate Together patron body for a new primary school in Maynooth. After receiving patronage, the school opened in a temporary building in September 2008 with 17 pupils. Responding to local demand, a dedicated autism provision was introduced in 2010. The temporary facilities were expanded in 2013, adding larger classrooms, a multi‑sensory room and an open‑space hall. By 2018 the school celebrated its ten‑year anniversary and introduced a second class stream. In 2019 the school moved into its permanent, purpose‑built building, and by September 2020 enrolment approached 300 pupils. Continued growth now serves approximately 420 children, representing over 30 nationalities, making the school a key provider of inclusive primary education in Maynooth.
