About
Bayside Junior School is a Catholic co‑educational primary school situated on Verbena Avenue in Sutton, Dublin 13, just a short distance north of the city centre and overlooking the sea. The school caters for children from junior infants through to second class, offering sixteen classes that accommodate a range of ages and abilities. Its educational philosophy centres on creating a happy, secure and friendly learning environment where every child is valued, encouraged and respected, and where spiritual, moral, social and academic development are all nurtured in partnership with parents, staff and the Board of Management. The school provides specialised support for pupils with additional needs, including dedicated ASD classes, resource teachers and special‑needs assistants, ensuring inclusive provision across the curriculum. The present purpose‑built premises, opened in 1976, house modern classrooms and facilities designed to support a broad, child‑centred programme of learning, while the coastal location offers opportunities for outdoor and experiential activities that enrich the school experience.
History
The school opened on 11 September 1972 with three teachers and 75 pupils, initially operating from prefabricated buildings at the top of Verbena Avenue. The current school building was completed and opened in 1976, providing a permanent home for the growing community.
