About
Monreagh National School is a small rural primary school situated in Carrigans, Lifford, County Donegal. The school operates with a three‑teacher team and currently educates around 51 pupils, providing a close‑knit, family‑like atmosphere. Housed in a purpose‑built facility completed in September 2011 and officially opened in 2012, the premises include modern classrooms, dedicated spaces for special educational needs, and areas for active play and creative work. The school’s ethos, under the patronage of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, welcomes children of all faiths and focuses on holistic development. Its aims encourage social cooperation, personal responsibility, respect for community and the realisation of each child’s unique potential. A vibrant programme of extracurricular activities complements the curriculum, featuring sports days, active school weeks with rugby, hurling, Gaelic football and céilí dancing, as well as arts projects such as World Book Day displays and music sessions. These initiatives foster wellbeing, teamwork and a love of learning beyond the classroom.
