About
Mulroy College is a co‑educational post‑primary school that blends academic rigour with a caring, inclusive atmosphere. Guided by the Education and Training Board (ETB) ethos, the college prioritises respect, equality, community partnership and a commitment to excellence. The curriculum spans the Junior Cycle (transitioning to the new Junior Cycle model in 2022), a robust Transition Year programme, and Senior Cycle options including the traditional Leaving Certificate and the Leaving Certificate Applied. Mixed‑ability grouping is employed across all years, with targeted banding in English, Irish and Mathematics to ensure each pupil can work at the highest appropriate level. The campus features a state‑of‑the‑art main building complemented by a recent modular extension (November 2023) that adds seven modern classrooms, three specialist SET (Science, Engineering, Technology) rooms and a dedicated library. These facilities support a broad range of subjects and extracurricular activities, from horticulture and agriculture to sport and debating. Serving a catchment that includes the Rosguill and Fanad peninsulas, Rathmullan, Ramelton and surrounding townlands, Mulroy College welcomes students from twenty feeder primary schools, fostering strong links with families and the wider community.
History
Mulroy College originated in the early 1950s as Milford Vocational School, initially holding day classes in the Milford Courthouse and later moving to a four‑room building at the town’s base. Over the decades the school expanded with prefabricated structures until the establishment of Mulroy College in 2000, when it relocated to a purpose‑built, state‑of‑the‑art facility. In November 2023 a modular building was added, providing seven classrooms, three SET rooms and a library. The college now delivers the full range of Department of Education and Skills programmes, including the updated Junior Cycle, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied, and serves a mixed‑ability student body from a wide catchment area.
