About
Scoil Maelruain Junior is a Catholic junior school serving the Old Bawn community since 1975. The school provides a holistic and inclusive learning environment for children aged 4‑12, emphasising kindness, respect and the development of confident, independent learners. Working in partnership with parents, families and the wider community, the school strives to create a safe, caring atmosphere where every pupil can reach their full potential. The educational ethos combines a strong Catholic foundation, under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin, with modern pedagogical practices. A dedicated team of 25 teaching staff—including mainstream class teachers, a special class teacher, support education teachers and special needs assistants—delivers a broad curriculum supported by a range of policies on health, anti‑bullying, RSE and healthy eating. The school’s collaborative culture is reinforced by an active student council and regular engagement with parents, fostering a vibrant community centred on learning and personal growth.
