About
Newport National School is a co‑educational primary school situated in County Mayo, providing the Irish national curriculum for children aged four to thirteen. Established in 1977 and dedicated to the Holy Family, the school fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment where each child’s individuality is valued. A strong emphasis is placed on high‑quality teaching and learning, with a collaborative staff team that supports both mainstream and special education needs. The campus is equipped with modern facilities, including a multi‑use games area, a large astro‑turf pitch and an indoor sports hall, alongside contemporary classrooms and teaching resources. These amenities enable a broad range of curricular and extracurricular activities, from sports and outdoor learning to a varied after‑school programme. The school also runs three Explorers classes for children with autism, integrating them progressively into mainstream classes, and maintains a dedicated Special Education Needs team that tailors programmes to support diverse learners.
