About
Our Lady of Lourdes National School is a co‑educational primary school situated in Rosbrien, Limerick, serving approximately 140 pupils with a dedicated team of teaching staff. The school prides itself on providing a pleasant and caring environment where children are encouraged to thrive academically and socially. A strong partnership with parents is fostered through regular involvement in school activities and a range of parent‑focused courses, such as homework support, parenting workshops and cookery sessions. The curriculum follows the Department of Education and Skills framework, covering English, Irish, Mathematics, SESE Religion, SPHE, Visual Arts and Physical Education. Emphasis is placed on holistic development, with programmes that promote physical activity, such as the Active Break Challenge, and a robust child‑safeguarding policy that underpins a safe learning setting. The school also offers a convenient online lunch ordering system and maintains clear communication channels for health and wellbeing advice, ensuring families are well‑supported throughout the school year.
History
The school was originally built in 1963 as an all‑girls institution called Holy Child School. In 1979 Holy Child merged with St Brendan’s Boys School, creating the co‑educational Our Lady of Lourdes School, which continues to serve the local community on shared grounds.
