About
Presentation Primary School, situated on the historic grounds of the Presentation Sisters’ Convent and St John’s Church in the heart of Tralee, is a co‑educational primary school for children aged 4 to 13. The school serves a community of approximately 280 pupils across 12 mainstream classes and employs a dedicated team of teachers, special‑needs assistants and support staff. Its educational ethos blends the national curriculum with the Aistear framework for early childhood, fostering lifelong learning, creativity and community involvement. The school is part of the Creative Schools initiative, promoting arts integration through programmes such as Music in the Classroom, Teacher‑Artist Partnerships and a vibrant outdoor classroom/creative space. The campus comprises two historic buildings – a listed junior block from the 1930s and a senior block from the 1960s – set within two school yards with basketball courts. Facilities include a school halla with stage, library, music room, computer lab, sensory room, language/Aistear room, cookery/parents’ room, a soft outdoor play area and a purpose‑built outdoor classroom. A one‑way traffic system and onsite parking enhance safety and accessibility for families.
History
The Presentation order has been delivering quality education in Tralee for over 200 years. Sacred Heart Primary School (now Presentation Primary School) occupies the former convent grounds, with the junior building recognised as a listed structure dating from the 1930s and the senior building constructed in the 1960s. The school has grown to accommodate 280 pupils and continues the legacy of the Presentation Sisters’ commitment to education.
