About

Presentation Senior School, Scoil na Maighdine Muire, is a co‑educational Catholic secondary school situated in the heart of Mullingar (An Muileann gCearr). It provides education for pupils from third to sixth class and includes a dedicated autism unit for children aged four to twelve. The school’s ethos is rooted in the Presentation tradition, emphasising holistic development—spiritual, moral, intellectual, social and physical—within a supportive, values‑based community. The learning environment combines modern classrooms equipped with a wide range of educational software and well‑maintained sports facilities. Two Astroturf pitches marked for basketball and football, a large concert hall with stage, and extensive PE equipment support a broad curriculum and extra‑curricular activities. The campus benefits from its central location, being within walking distance of the town library, arts centre, swimming pool, tennis club, cathedral, barracks, fire and Garda stations, and the Royal Canal, allowing easy access to community resources. A committed Board of Management and enthusiastic staff strive to uphold the Presentation values, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential while respecting the school’s Catholic heritage.

History

The Presentation Sisters arrived in Mullingar in 1825 and established the original junior school. Building on this legacy, Presentation Senior School was founded by the Presentation Order in 1957, continuing the Sisters’ long tradition of service to the town and surrounding areas.
