About
Rath National School is a co‑educational primary school serving the Rathmore community. It provides a full Irish primary curriculum for children from the infant stage through to sixth class, with dedicated class groups for Infants, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th and 5th/6th classes. The school operates under a Board of Management and works closely with an active Parents Association, ensuring a collaborative approach to pupil welfare and school development. The school maintains a range of organisational resources, including a regularly updated calendar and a set of policies that guide everyday practice, health and safety, and the recent Covid‑19 reopening plan. These structures support a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment, enabling pupils to develop academically, socially and personally in line with national educational standards.
History
Rathmore National School, commonly known as Rath NS, opened its doors in November 1977 as a central school formed from the amalgamation of four local schools: Baltimore NS, Reengaroga NS, Creagh NS and Lough Hyne NS.
