About
Scoil Mhuire Roibin is a co‑educational national school serving children from Junior Infants to 6th Class. Situated in the village of Robeen, just outside Hollymount and a short distance from Ballinrobe, the school provides a nurturing Catholic environment that seeks to develop the intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual dimensions of each pupil. The ethos stresses lifelong learning, community involvement, inclusion of all children and respect for diversity, with clear policies against discrimination and racism. The school benefits from modern teaching facilities, including laptops, iPads and Clevertouch interactive boards that replace earlier whiteboards, creating a technology‑rich learning atmosphere. A broad range of extra‑curricular programmes is offered, such as Gaelic football, hurling, tennis, cross‑country running, music, concerts, musicals, quizzes and science challenges, encouraging pupils to explore interests beyond the classroom. Environmental stewardship is highlighted by the award of a 5th Green Flag for biodiversity, and the school actively participates in the Active School programme, promoting physical education and activity throughout the year.
History
Scoil Mhuire Roibin was built in 1975 to serve the Robeen community and surrounding rural areas. Since its establishment, the school has grown into a five‑teacher, co‑educational institution that continues to provide Catholic education under the patronage of the Archbishop of Tuam, adhering to Department of Education and Science guidelines.
