About
Robertson National School is a small, mixed‑gender primary school serving children from Junior Infants to Sixth class. The school operates a dual‑classroom model, with two year groups sharing a single classroom, fostering peer‑learning and collaborative teaching. The curriculum is delivered under the auspices of the Church of Ireland but is open to pupils of all faiths and none, reflecting an inclusive ethos. A dedicated Home School Liaison (HSCL) provides additional support to families, offering home visits and personalised guidance to enhance each child’s educational experience. The campus comprises a bright, welcoming main building that has been expanded several times, most recently in 2022, and a well‑equipped prefab annex that offers a warm, comfortable learning environment. Outdoor facilities were upgraded in 2009 to include a soft‑play area and ball courts, providing ample space for physical activity. With approximately 90 pupils drawn from a variety of cultural backgrounds, the school benefits from a close‑knit community supported by a team of teachers, special needs assistants, and essential staff such as a cook, caretaker and cleaner.
History
Robertson National School, Stranorlar, was constructed in 1963 to replace the former school on Main Street (now the site of Andie’s Superstore). Managed by the Church of Ireland, the school welcomes children of all faiths and none. An extension in 2007 added two new classrooms, and the grounds were enhanced in 2009 with a soft‑play area and ball courts. A further expansion in 2022 introduced an additional classroom, two offices and two SET (Special Educational Needs) rooms.
