About

Rosemount National School is a Roman Catholic primary school situated in Moate, County Westmeath. The school’s ethos centres on fostering the full and harmonious development of each pupil – intellectually, physically, culturally, morally and spiritually – within a happy, secure and caring learning environment. The curriculum follows the guidelines set by the Department of Education and Science, and the school places a strong emphasis on respect for the community, the environment and the Catholic faith. The campus offers a wide range of modern facilities to support both academic and extracurricular learning. Pupils have access to a fully equipped computer room and a well‑resourced library that encourages recreational reading. Classrooms are spacious and fitted with interactive whiteboards, while a multi‑purpose G.P. hall provides space for indoor activities. Outdoor provision includes two playgrounds with basketball, tennis and football equipment, a dedicated field for various sports, and convenient access to a local GAA pitch and astro‑turf surface. Beyond the classroom, the school promotes a balanced programme of activities such as yoga, science weeks, engineering trips and seasonal events, all designed to enrich the pupil experience and nurture a love of learning in a supportive community setting.

History

Rosemount National School (originally Kilcumreragh National School) was built in 1934. It has been extended twice, first in 1989 and again in 2007. The school operates under the patronage of the Bishop of Meath and is governed by a Board of Management elected every four years.
