About
Rush and Lusk Educate Together National School (RaLET) is a co‑educational, mixed‑ability primary school that follows the Educate Together ethos of equality, inclusivity and child‑centred learning. The curriculum is delivered through a blend of traditional subjects and innovative programmes such as “New Maths”, English as an Additional Language, and a strong emphasis on STEM activities, including annual STEM weeks and showcase days. The school also promotes holistic development through a range of extracurricular clubs, green initiatives and active‑school projects, encouraging pupils to engage with the environment and their local community. The campus currently operates from a temporary purpose‑built facility provided by the Department of Education and Skills, which includes dedicated classrooms for children with additional needs, notably two specialist rooms for autism. Construction is underway on a permanent building on the same site, slated for completion in Autumn 2023, which will house all classes and expand the specialist provision. Modern resources such as a well‑stocked library, multimedia equipment for video tours and a flexible learning environment support the school’s commitment to fostering curiosity, resilience and collaborative learning among its students.
History
In early 2003 a group of parents from the Rush/Lusk area partnered with the Educate Together organisation to establish a new school. After locating suitable premises and obtaining Department of Education recognition, the school opened on 1 September 2003 in the Scout Den at Kenure Park, enrolling 24 pupils and employing two teachers. It moved to Hanna’s Avenue in March 2004 and then, in August 2008, to its current location, a temporary purpose‑built facility. Construction of a permanent building, including two autism specialist classrooms, began and is expected to be finished in Autumn 2023. The school’s growth has been driven by the dedication of staff, parents, students and successive Boards of Management.
