About

Sacred Heart Senior National School, situated at the foot of the Dublin Mountains in Killinarden, Tallaght, provides primary education for roughly 270 boys and girls from third to sixth class. The school operates a distinctive classroom model where two teachers share two “base” rooms and a larger communal area that functions as a full‑size classroom, fostering collaborative learning and flexible teaching. Extensive outdoor facilities include a very large yard, a spacious sports hall, and a dedicated field, while indoor provisions feature a kitchen and a well‑equipped computer room, supporting both practical and digital curricula. The school places a strong emphasis on sport and technology. Popular activities encompass soccer, basketball, chess and Gaelic games, and the school regularly hosts clubs such as the Killinarden CLIC (Chess, Lego, Imagination Club) and participates in projects like the ARISS initiative. Digital learning is further enhanced through resources such as Reading Eggs, Mathletics, virtual reality sessions and Minecraft Education, reflecting the school’s reputation for innovative use of technology. The uniform is maroon‑coloured, comprising a wine jumper, tie, white shirt and grey trousers or skirt, complemented by a school tracksuit in wine and black.
