About
Ard Scoil Chiaráin Naofa is a relatively small, inclusive, multi‑denominational post‑primary school situated on Frederick Street in Clara, County Offaly. It welcomes both boys and girls and aims to provide a safe, caring and respectful environment where every learner is known and supported. The school is part of the Laois and Offaly Education & Training Board and benefits from recent expansion, with several new classrooms added and a whole‑school redevelopment project currently under way. The curriculum offers a full range of subjects at both higher and ordinary level for the Junior and Leaving Certificate, together with specialised programmes such as the Junior Cert School Programme (JCSP), Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP). A dedicated autism specialist unit, the Brosna Centre, provides three classes for students with ASD, who also attend mainstream lessons. Ard Scoil Chiaráin places a strong emphasis on holistic development, encouraging participation in a wide variety of extracurricular activities, sports and health‑related programmes, and prides itself on a consistent record of academic achievement and successful progression to further education, apprenticeships and employment.
