About

Knockrooskey National School is a vibrant, community‑focused primary school situated near Aughagower, approximately six kilometres from Westport on the Ballinrobe Road. The school prides itself on creating a welcoming and happy environment where pupils are encouraged to develop both academically and socially. Emphasis is placed on fostering open, positive relationships with families, ensuring that every child’s individual needs are met and that they enjoy a supportive atmosphere for lifelong learning. The campus benefits from modern, networked classrooms and a range of specialised spaces. Since its original construction in 1963, the school has been expanded several times: a 2006 extension added four new classrooms and a library; a purpose room was introduced in 2009; and a 2012 development provided three additional classrooms, two learning‑support rooms and an upstairs meeting room. An ASD unit further demonstrates the school’s commitment to inclusive education, offering tailored support for pupils with additional needs.
