About
Glenville National School (Scoil Mhuire) is a rural Catholic primary school situated at the foot of the Nagle Mountains in Glenville, Co. Cork. It provides an inclusive, co‑educational environment for children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, welcoming families of diverse faiths, traditions and nationalities. The school’s ethos is centred on the holistic development of each pupil – nurturing cognitive, intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual growth while fostering a living relationship with God and the wider community. The school operates two specialist classes for children with autism and offers a range of facilities designed to support contemporary learning and play. A newly‑built soft‑play area, completed in the summer of 2025 through a community‑led fundraising effort, provides a safe, stimulating space for younger pupils. Ongoing projects such as a Christmas Fayre, clothing collections and local craft sales demonstrate strong parental and community involvement, reinforcing the warm, family‑like atmosphere that characterises the school. Curriculum delivery follows the Department of Education and Science programmes and complies with all relevant legislation, including the Education Acts and equality law. The school’s policies on child safeguarding, healthy eating, homework and discipline are regularly reviewed, ensuring a safe and supportive setting for every child to thrive.
