About

Scoil Naomh Mhuire, Lisín na Coille (Lisheenkyle National School) is a mixed, Catholic primary school serving the parish of Athenry and its surrounding catchment area. The school operates from a modern, state‑of‑the‑art building that offers bright, spacious classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards and computers, alongside dedicated resource and learning‑support rooms. A multi‑purpose hall accommodates assemblies, sport, concerts and a wide range of extra‑curricular activities, providing a versatile centre for pupil development. The school is distinguished by its strong environmental ethos. It is the only school in the Republic of Ireland to generate its own electricity through an on‑site 11 kW wind turbine and maintains an eco‑school garden plus an eco‑classroom, Seomra na Coille, situated in the Coillte woodland behind the campus. As a Green School it holds five Green Schools flags recognising achievements in litter & waste, energy, water, travel and biodiversity. The ethos of inclusion is evident in the warm, friendly atmosphere, the celebration of cultural diversity and the provision of support for children with additional needs, all under an open‑door partnership between home, school and community.
