The school’s educational approach combines rigorous, yet achievable, academic expectations with a strong emphasis on personal development and community values. Core values are reflected in the school’s logo and underpin daily life, encouraging pupils to become confident, responsible individuals. Regular communication with parents through newsletters and updates ensures a transparent partnership, while the school’s affiliation with the wider Edmund Rice network provides additional resources and support for both pupils and families.
History
CBS Primary Tralee was originally established in the mid‑1800s to meet the educational needs of the Tralee community. In May 1855, Br Dominick McDonnell opened the school at the rear of St John’s Church with an initial enrolment of 180 boys. Shortly thereafter, two additional Brothers joined, expanding the staff to four Christian Brothers who were educating 420 boys. The school has continued to evolve, maintaining its Edmund Rice foundation and serving the local population to the present day.
