About
St Joseph’s National School, Ballybrown, is a co‑educational primary school situated in Clarina, Co Limerick, under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Limerick. The school’s ethos is centred on the full and harmonious development of each pupil, fostering cognitive, intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual growth. A Christian philosophy of life underpins the curriculum, encouraging a living relationship with God and with others, and preparing children for the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation. The school benefits from its location adjacent to the local Resource Centre, providing easy access to additional learning resources and community facilities. A dedicated team of enthusiastic staff works to create a safe, happy and welcoming environment where kindness, respect and perseverance are core values. Emphasis is placed on nurturing individual talents, supporting academic achievement, and promoting social and emotional wellbeing through a balanced programme of classroom learning, sport, cultural activities and community involvement.
History
Saint Joseph’s National School Ballybrown opened in 1976 following the amalgamation of Tervoe Boys’ National School, Tervoe Girls’ National School and Lurriga National School. Since its foundation the school has been at the heart of the local community, benefitting from close ties with the neighbouring Resource Centre and the support of a school chaplain in preparing pupils for the sacraments.
