About
St. Patrick’s National School, Slane, is a co‑educational Catholic primary school situated in the parish of Slane, Co. Meath, under the patronage of the Bishop of Meath. The school welcomes children of all faiths and none, providing a holistic education that balances academic learning with spiritual, moral, physical and cultural development. The full primary curriculum is delivered alongside a wide range of extra‑curricular activities, including music, Gaelic football, athletics, quizzes and creative projects, fostering curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. The school operates eleven classrooms ranging from Junior Infants to 6th class, plus a dedicated autism class, and is supported by a specialist Special Education Team and Special Needs Assistants who develop individual plans for pupils with additional needs. Facilities include a well‑maintained outdoor learning area, a school garden, and a unique “school hens” programme that encourages responsibility and connection with nature. Safety is prioritised through a perimeter fence, controlled entry points and a traffic warden system, while strong parent partnership is promoted via a Parents’ Association, regular communication channels and a welcoming open‑day programme.
