About

St. Nicholas of Myra National School is a small, vibrant primary school situated on the Malahide Road in Kinsealy, North Co. Dublin, on a former green‑belt site between Malahide, Portmarnock and Balgriffin. The school benefits from a generous campus that includes a large playground, a natural‑bordered field planted with fruit trees, and a fully equipped GAA pitch with goal posts, providing ample space for outdoor play, exploration of nature and organised sport throughout the spring and summer months. The learning environment is underpinned by a strong Catholic ethos while respecting cultural and religious diversity. With approximately 210 pupils across eight classes from Junior Infants to 6th Class, the school is supported by three resource teachers and four special needs assistants. Each classroom features an interactive whiteboard and a class set of iPads, which are integrated into English and Maths lessons and used to promote online safety. A wide range of after‑school clubs—including art, music and sport—offers children the chance to develop new skills and build friendships in a caring, inclusive community.

History

The school is named after St Nicholas of Myra, the patron saint of children. Originally housed in the hall beside St Nicholas of Myra Church, the school moved to its present site in 1952 as enrolments grew. It remains proud of its long‑standing role in the local community, welcoming the children, grandchildren and even great‑grandchildren of former pupils.
