About
Sandymount Park Educate Together Secondary School is a co‑educational, non‑selective secondary school situated in the historic Roslyn Park building on Beach Road, Sandymount. The campus incorporates the early‑19th‑century Gandon Villa, providing a distinctive blend of heritage architecture and modern learning spaces for its 390 pupils from first to sixth year. The school’s learner‑centred ethos is reflected in its commitment to equality, democratic participation and the absence of a school uniform, fostering an inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to develop their identity and voice. The curriculum is underpinned by the Educate Together philosophy, emphasising evidence‑informed teaching, ethical education and a strong focus on wellbeing. Transition Year offers eight interdisciplinary strands—including Health, STEM, Aesthetics and Enterprise—designed to promote personal growth through challenge and opportunity. Extracurricular programmes, rich co‑ and extra‑curricular activities, and a robust student‑led newspaper further enhance the holistic development of learners, while restorative approaches to behaviour and a restorative culture support positive relationships across the school community.
History
Sandymount Park Educate Together Secondary School opened as Dublin South City Educate Together Secondary School on 27 August 2018. The school’s name reflects its permanent location at Roslyn Park, Beach Road, Sandymount, a site formerly known as Sandymount Park and home to the Gandon Villa designed around 1790 by architect James Gandon for painter William Ashford. Planning permission for the new school building was granted in February 2021.
