About

Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh is a senior primary school situated in Laytown, Co. Meath, catering for children from third class upwards. The school delivers a broad, balanced curriculum that places equal emphasis on visual arts, science and life/social skills, preparing pupils for a smooth transition to post‑primary education. Its ethos, encapsulated in the mantra “Be healthy, be active, be mentally fit”, underpins a holistic approach that promotes physical wellbeing, mental resilience and active participation in all aspects of school life. In June 2025 the school moved into a new state‑of‑the‑art building, officially opened by the Minister for Education and Youth and blessed by Bishop Deenihan. The modern facilities include specialised classrooms for four autism spectrum disorder (ASD) classes, providing up to 24 places for children with special needs, and a range of resources to support inclusive learning. Community engagement is a key feature, with programmes such as internet‑safety talks delivered by the Garda Community Policing unit and a vibrant Parents Association that works closely with the Board of Management to enhance the school environment.

History

The school celebrated a momentous milestone in June 2025 when the new senior primary building was officially opened. The ceremony was attended by the Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee, Bishop Deenihan, former principals, retired staff and the school community. The event marked the culmination of extensive planning and construction, delivering a modern, purpose‑built facility equipped with specialised special‑needs classrooms and a dedicated school band and choir performance.
