About
Northampton National School (Scoil Bhríghde Naofa) is a co‑educational, rural primary school located three kilometres from Kinvara in South Galway. The school provides a happy, stimulating environment for children aged 4‑12, under a Catholic ethos and the patronage of Bishop Michael Duignan, while also respecting pupils of all faiths and none. Its curriculum balances the core subjects of English, Irish, maths and science with a strong emphasis on creativity – music, drama, art and crafts – and a wide range of sports including hurling, football, camogie, soccer and rugby. The school adopts a holistic approach to education, seeking to develop intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural capacities. Initiatives such as the Green School Programme encourage environmental responsibility, and participation in the 2021 NextGenerationEU project has helped bridge the digital divide for learners at risk of educational disadvantage. Class structures are organised into Junior, Middle and Senior rooms, and the school community benefits from active parental involvement through the Board of Management and Parents Association, fostering a spirit of generosity and community cohesion.
