About

Scoil Bhríde is a co‑educational, vertical primary school serving children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class in the Oldtown area of Naas. Operating under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, the school delivers the Irish Primary School Curriculum within a Catholic ethos that promotes the spiritual, moral, intellectual, social and physical development of each pupil. The school’s ethos is articulated through a schedule for Catholic schools, which emphasises a living relationship with God, respect for others and the holistic growth of the child. The campus occupies a five‑acre site and features a state‑of‑the‑art building opened in March 2006, complemented by an eight‑classroom extension added in September 2012. Facilities include dedicated special classes for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, a well‑maintained school garden, and spaces for active schools programmes and healthy eating initiatives. With three classes per year group, a robust team of teachers, special needs assistants and support staff, Scoil Bhríde offers a broad range of extracurricular activities such as choir, student council projects and community partnerships, fostering a vibrant and inclusive school community.

History

Scoil Bhríde opened its doors on 1 September 2005 with fifty‑two Junior Infants, three teachers and one Special Needs Assistant. In October 2005 a Language Support Teacher and a shared Special Education Teacher were appointed. Initially based in the local GAA Centre, the school moved to its purpose‑built, state‑of‑the‑art building in March 2006. Rapid growth saw enrolment reach 695 pupils by September 2013, prompting the addition of an eight‑classroom extension in September 2012. The school now provides three mainstream classes per level and three specialist classes for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
