About
Scoil Bhríde (Cailíní) is a vibrant primary school for girls aged 4‑12, situated in the heart of Blanchardstown Village, Dublin 15. The school embraces a Catholic ethos while welcoming children of all faiths and none, fostering a child‑centred environment built on respect, dignity and the motto “Let us treat others as we would like them to treat us”. Learning is approached holistically, with a strong emphasis on personal development, self‑confidence, tolerance and community awareness, alongside a commitment to high standards in literacy, numeracy and Irish language and culture. The school benefits from state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including bright, well‑equipped classrooms, modern IT resources, a spacious hall for indoor activities, all‑weather pitches, a basketball court and a unique outdoor performance space used for creative projects. A dedicated special class supports pupils with additional needs, and a broad curriculum offers STEM initiatives, sport programmes such as Gaelic football and tennis, and cultural events that celebrate the diverse backgrounds of its students. A proactive Parents’ Association and an engaged Board of Management underpin a supportive community, ensuring that the school remains a nurturing centre where each girl can thrive academically, socially and spiritually.
History
Scoil Bhríde (Cailíní) originated as the parish school of Blanchardstown in the mid‑nineteenth century, initially housed in the hall of the present Community Centre. As the local population grew, two railway carriages were added in the 1940s to accommodate pupils. A purpose‑built school opened in 1956 and remained in use until June 2013, when a new, modern building was constructed on the former school yard. The contemporary facility offers bright classrooms, excellent IT resources, a large hall, all‑weather pitches, a basketball court and a distinctive outdoor performance area, preserving the welcoming atmosphere that has long defined the school. Today the school provides one special class and fifteen mainstream classes, serving girls from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, and is supported by an active Board of Management and Parents’ Association.
