About
Scoil Bhríde is a vertical, co‑educational Catholic primary school situated on the Curragh Plains in Athgarvan, County Kildare. The school caters for children from Junior Infants to 6th Class and, as of the 2020/21 academic year, accommodates around 316 pupils across twelve modern classrooms. Its crest, featuring St Brigid’s cross and blue water, reflects the nearby River Liffey, while the school motto “Áit do Pháistí” (a place for children) underpins a nurturing learning environment that balances academic rigour with spiritual and moral development. The ethos of Scoil Bhríde is rooted in Catholic values and a commitment to partnership with families, promoting tolerance, justice, courtesy and a love of excellence. A vibrant healthy‑lifestyle committee encourages participation in a wide range of sports—including basketball, football, tag rugby, gymnastics and athletics—as well as extracurricular clubs such as chess, sewing and gardening. Pupils are given a voice through a senior student council, fostering leadership and community engagement. The school’s facilities support both curricular and extracurricular activities, creating a well‑rounded educational experience that prepares children for lifelong learning.
