About
Scoil Chlochair Mhuire is a co‑educational primary school situated in the heart of Carrigtwohill, County Cork. The school follows a holistic, Christian‑based ethos that seeks to develop a love of learning and a lasting curiosity in every child. Academic, physical, spiritual and emotional needs are all taken into account, with a curriculum that encourages creativity, critical thinking, resilience and active participation. Learning is delivered through a blend of active‑learning strategies, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) programmes and a strong emphasis on sport and physical education, delivered in partnership with Cork Sports’ Partnership. Inclusion is a core pillar of the school community. An early‑intervention pre‑school class for children with autism was opened in September 2020, complementing a dedicated ASD class launched in 2019, ensuring that children with special needs have access to mainstream activities where appropriate. The school also provides a comprehensive before‑ and after‑school service run by staff, the Carrigtwohill Family Resource Centre and Sherpa Kids, supporting families throughout the day. Strong links with the wider Carrigtwohill community, regular cultural events and a focus on positive discipline further reinforce a nurturing, inclusive environment for pupils.
