About
Scoil Choilm Community National School is a multi‑belief primary school that welcomes pupils of all religions, cultures and none. The school’s ethos is built on inclusion, equality and partnership, placing the child at the centre of the learning process. A caring, happy and secure atmosphere is fostered through strong links between home and school, encouraging co‑operation among parents, teachers and pupils to support each child’s intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural development. The campus, situated on Porterstown Road, comprises modern, attractive buildings and a range of excellent facilities. In 2013 the school expanded with a second phase that added two dedicated Special Needs Units, one attached to each building, and a state‑of‑the‑art GP Hall for physical education and assemblies. These resources enable the school to provide a broad, child‑centred curriculum while promoting good manners, courtesy and respect for diversity.
History
Scoil Choilm CNS was established in September 2007 to address a shortage of school places in the Porterstown area. Its patron is the Dublin & Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board, reflecting a community‑national school model that recognises and celebrates all religious beliefs, values and cultures. The school moved to its permanent location on Porterstown Road in 2008. In September 2013 Phase Two was completed, adding two Special Needs Units and a modern GP Hall, further enhancing the school’s facilities and inclusive ethos.
