About

Scoil Cholmcille CBS, known locally as Blarney Street, is a mixed primary school situated on a scenic campus overlooking the River Lee and the centre of Cork city. The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment where children are encouraged to develop a love of learning through curiosity, critical thinking and collaboration. Facilities include modern classrooms, a well‑equipped sports area, a forest school space, digital literacy suites and dedicated areas for music, yoga and chess, reflecting a broad extracurricular programme that nurtures both academic and personal growth. The curriculum is complemented by a strong ethos of community and sustainability, with participation in the Well Schools Network, Green Schools initiatives and the School of Sanctuary programme. Students benefit from a vibrant student council and a range of sports and cultural activities, all designed to develop essential life skills and confidence. The school shares its campus with Sunday’s Well Montessori, fostering a collaborative educational atmosphere and offering families a seamless early years to primary transition.

History

Originally established as a boys‑only primary school, Scoil Cholmcille CBS opened its doors to girls in September 2021, becoming a co‑educational institution for junior infants through fourth class. The school will continue to admit boys only into fifth and sixth class for the 2025/26 academic year.
