About
Scoil Chrónáin is an all‑Irish, co‑educational primary school situated in Rathcoole Village, directly opposite Tesco. Operating under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin, the school delivers a Catholic ethos that underpins its curriculum and community life. The school caters for children from Naíonáin Shóisearacha (early years) through to Rang a Sé (sixth class), with sixteen classes and a roll of approximately 421 pupils. Teaching is delivered entirely through Irish from the first day, with English introduced only in the second term of the larger Naíonáin, ensuring full immersion in the language. The school’s educational philosophy promotes the holistic development of each pupil – intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual – and encourages a living relationship with God and with others. Facilities support a broad, balanced programme of learning and play. Dedicated special‑needs assistants, learning‑support and resource teachers provide inclusive support for pupils with additional requirements. The school grounds include a well‑maintained garden used by senior classes, an art studio, and spaces for Gaelic games and other sports. Recent initiatives such as the Beebots robotics sessions and a vibrant art programme demonstrate a commitment to contemporary, experiential learning while preserving traditional Irish cultural activities such as music, song, dance and drama.
