About

Scoil Chúil Aodha Barr D’Inse is a Gaeltacht primary school situated in the village of Chúil Aodha, at the heart of the Muskerry Gaeltacht in County Cork. It is a mixed, Catholic‑maintained school catering for children aged four to thirteen and delivers the full primary curriculum through Irish. The school places a strong emphasis on the preservation and celebration of local culture, heritage and the Irish language, encapsulated in its motto “Teanga Ársa – Oidhreacht Órga”. The learning environment is designed to support holistic development – academic, physical, creative, social, spiritual and emotional – within a welcoming, positive and distinctly Gaelic atmosphere. Facilities include a purpose‑built building completed in 1996, located near the Abha an tSuláin, providing modern classrooms and spaces for cultural activities that reinforce the school’s commitment to nurturing a deep connection to Irish traditions while preparing pupils for the wider world.

History

Scoil Chúil Aodha Barr D’Inse was founded as a merger between Scoil Chúil Aodha and Scoil Bharr d’Inse. The current school building was constructed in 1996 and is sited beside the Abha an tSuláin. The school’s origins lie in serving the local Gaeltacht community and promoting Irish language and heritage.
