About
Crecora National School is a co‑educational Catholic primary school situated in the rural community of Crecora, just outside Limerick City. The school places the child at the centre of its educational provision, delivering the national curriculum alongside a wide range of literacy and numeracy initiatives such as CAPER, Literacy Lift Off and Building Bridges to Comprehension. A strong emphasis is placed on inclusive practice, ensuring that pupils with special educational needs are fully supported and welcomed within a caring, secure environment. The school benefits from modern, state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including a recently extended building, high‑speed broadband, interactive classroom boards and a fleet of iPads provided through a 2021 grant under the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Extra‑curricular provision is extensive, covering sport (hurling, camogie, football, cycling and swimming), music (tin whistle, choir and instrumental performances) and cross‑curricular programmes such as the Junior Entrepreneur Programme and Discovery Primary awards. These opportunities aim to develop pupils as confident global citizens with a strong sense of community and social responsibility.
History
Crecora National School opened its doors in 1937. Since its inception as a three‑roomed building, the school has expanded and modernised, culminating in the current contemporary premises that serve a vibrant community of almost 220 children.
