About
Scoil Eoghain is a Catholic primary school situated in Moville, County Donegal, providing education for children from Junior Infants through to 6th Class. The school follows a holistic curriculum that nurtures academic achievement alongside physical, moral, emotional, spiritual, aesthetic, cultural, social and personal development. This broad‑based approach aims to develop each pupil as a confident, responsible citizen who can contribute positively to society. The campus includes dedicated classroom spaces for each year group, a well‑stocked library, and facilities for sport and outdoor activities, supporting the school’s active participation in the Green Flag and Active Schools programmes. A hot‑lunch scheme, supplied by Carambola, ensures nutritious meals are available, while comprehensive policies on bullying, online safety and health promote a safe and supportive learning environment. The school also offers a range of extracurricular activities and a vibrant community ethos, reflected in its parents’ association and regular newsletters.
History
Catholic primary education in Moville was previously delivered by St Brigid’s Girls National School and St Joseph’s Boys National School. In 1996 these two schools amalgamated to form Scoil Eoghain. The school operated on two separate sites until 2008, when temporary accommodation on the former boys’ school site allowed the construction of a new building on the former St Brigid’s site. Scoil Eoghain moved into the new premises in November 2009. The school is under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Derry and identifies as a Catholic school.
