About
Scoil Eoin Baiste is a mainstream co‑educational primary school situated in the scenic village of Carrigart, County Donegal. The school embraces a Catholic ethos while recognising and respecting all other faiths, and it strives to nurture the intellectual, physical, cultural, moral, emotional and spiritual development of every pupil. A broad, balanced curriculum is delivered within a caring environment, reinforced by participation in national programmes such as Green Schools, Health‑Promoting Schools, the School of Digital Distinction and Active Schools, which together provide a wide variety of learning opportunities across the curriculum. The campus comprises five mainstream classrooms, a dedicated special class for children with autism spectrum disorder, a state‑of‑the‑art hall, a library, a computer room and a purpose‑built sensory room. Outdoor facilities include a football pitch at the front of the school, a basketball court and an additional sports area, with plans for a modern astro‑turf pitch on parish grounds. With an enrolment of around 142 pupils, the school benefits from generous indoor and outdoor space, enabling a vibrant community life and strong parental involvement through a Parents’ Association and regular school events.
History
The school was originally constructed in 1970. In response to the growing population of Carrigart, the first major extension was completed in 2009, adding a library, staff room, toilets, support room, kitchenette, storeroom and hall. A further classroom was built in 2016, bringing the total to five mainstream classrooms. In 2018 a sensory room was created and a special class for children with ASD was introduced, with plans to add two more classrooms in the near future.
