About

Scoil Eoin Báiste is a vibrant primary school serving the local community from September to June. The school occupies a purpose‑built campus originally opened in 1985, replacing the former Nobber National School. It offers a range of dedicated learning spaces, including six classrooms, a general‑purpose (GP) room that doubles as a kitchen and library, a SET (Special Educational Needs) area, a sensory room, and two small offices. Outdoor facilities comprise a spacious yard, a sports pitch and a court area, providing ample room for physical education and play. The school places a strong emphasis on inclusive education, having introduced two Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classes – Spraoi (Early Intervention) and Sonas (Junior Infants) – in September 2021. These specialist provisions reflect a commitment to supporting children with additional needs alongside mainstream teaching. Recent growth has seen the addition of a fifth mainstream teacher in 2022, and plans are under way for a new extension that will house an Early Intervention room and a SEN base, ensuring the school can continue to accommodate its expanding enrolment while preserving its generous outdoor spaces. A lively programme of extracurricular activities, newsletters, and community events complements the academic curriculum, fostering a well‑rounded experience for pupils. The school’s policies, enrolment information and calendar are readily accessible online, helping families stay informed about important dates, procedures and resources.

History

Scoil Eoin Báiste was constructed in 1985, succeeding the original Nobber National School whose building remains visible at the front of the site. Shortly after opening, a single‑classroom extension was added. The school now comprises six classrooms, a GP/kitchen/library/SET space, a sensory room, offices and storage areas. In September 2021, two ASD classes – Spraoi (Early Intervention) and Sonas (Junior Infants) – were launched, and a fifth mainstream teacher joined the staff in 2022 to meet rising pupil numbers. An upcoming extension, planned for the rear of the school, will provide an Early Intervention room and a SEN base, with a temporary prefab to accommodate students during construction.
